The governor of Sughd province, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, visited the city of Istiqlol to inspect the progress of two limestone extraction and processing plants, according to the regional press service.

The first plant, a project by Ohaki Istiqlol LLC, plans to produce 100,000 tons of limestone annually.  With an investment of 55 million somonis, the plant is expected to create up to 200 new jobs, and all its products will be designated for export.

The second plant, being constructed by a private entrepreneur as part of the Taj-Ohak LLC project, will produce 100 tons of limestone per day.  The project is valued at US$1.5 million, and the plant is scheduled to become operational soon.

During his visit, Ahmadzoda also inspected a new metallurgical plant, which was built with an investment of US$50 million.  This facility will process copper, lead, and silver ores, providing over 200 new jobs.

Additionally, the Sughd governor participated in a tree-planting ceremony, emphasizing that Istiqlol will become even more developed and aesthetically enhanced in the future.

A free economic zone is reportedly also planned for the Istiqlol city, aiming to attract new investors and stimulate the construction of new industrial enterprises.
