Tajikistan’s state-run news agency Khovar reported on April 15 that the issues related to increasing the number of flights on the air routes Dushanbe – Bishkek – Dushanbe and Khujand – Bishkek – Khujand, as well as opening new routes from Dushanbe to Issyk-Kul and from Khujand to Issyk-Kul, have been discussed in Dushanbe.

During the meeting, which took place on April 15, the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, Habibullo Nazarzoda, met here with the Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Daniyar Bostonov, and the General Director of the Kyrgyz Aeronavigation Company, Torokeldi Omurov.

The parties reportedly also discussed issues related to strengthening bilateral cooperation in flight safety and aviation security.

To improve the knowledge and professional skills of specialists in the field of civil aviation, the parties signed a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan and the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Khovar added.

It is worth noting that on March 14, Tajikistan’s privately-owned air carrier, Somon Air, operated its first charter flight on the Dushanbe – Bishkek – Dushanbe air route.

Since March 23, flights between the capitals of the two countries have been operated weekly, on Sundays.  The departure time from Dushanbe is 10:30, and from Bishkek, it is 14:20, local time.  The flight time from Dushanbe is 1 hour 30 minutes, and the return flight takes 1 hour 20 minutes.

The opening of these flights was one of the topics discussed during the negotiations between the Presidents of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, on March 13 in Bishkek.
