The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Vice-President Yingming Yang on Wednesday will start a three-day official visit to Tajikistan – his first to the country.

Mr. Yang will meet with the leadership of the country and development partners, visit project sites, and speak at the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation to be held this week in Dushanbe.

Mr. Yang, who joined ADB in January 2024, is responsible for ADB’s operations in South, Central, and West Asia, including Tajikistan.

Since Tajikistan joined ADB in 1998, the bank has provided over $2.7 billion in assistance to the country, including over $2.2 billion in grants, supporting a diverse range of sectors – from strategic road and energy infrastructure to climate resilience and social services. ADB and Tajikistan are currently preparing a new country partnership strategy for the next five years.
