Tajikistan has achieved an average annual GDP growth rate of 8.5% over the last eight years. This was announced by Tajikistan’s Prime Minister, Qohir Rasoulzoda, during his speech at the Tashkent International Investment Forum on June 10, as reported by Tajikistan’s state-run news agency Khovar.
Rasoulzoda reportedly emphasized that the country's economic growth has been fueled by tax and customs incentives, the creation of five free economic zones, and continuous support for the private sector. These factors have significantly contributed to the development of Tajikistan's socioeconomic sectors, he noted.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that over the past five years alone, Tajikistan has attracted US$11.6 billion in foreign investments. He invited participants of the forum, including entrepreneurs, investors, and private sector representatives, to attend the upcoming “Dushanbe Invest-2025” International Investment Forum, scheduled for October this year.
During his visit to Uzbekistan, Rasoulzoda was received by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. At the start of the meeting, Rasoulzoda conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon to his Uzbek counterpart.
The parties discussed important issues surrounding the deepening of bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They focused on the strategic partnership, friendship, and cooperation that both nations have fostered, and on implementing agreements made at the highest level.
They noted the "exceptionally high level" of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, which has seen growing trade volumes and freight traffic. Joint projects in industries such as energy, electrical engineering, textiles, and agriculture are progressing, and interregional contacts and cultural exchanges have been thriving.
Both sides underscored the importance of setting a new economic agenda for their partnership, including actionable measures to increase trade volumes, promote cooperative projects, and enhance cross-border collaboration.
The meeting concluded with discussions, led by the prime ministers of both countries, on various aspects of bilateral cooperation. Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov highlighted that the strengthening of ties between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is linked to the constructive policies of the two heads of state.
