As the armed conflict between Iran and Israel enters its sixth day, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Tehran has issued official guidance for Tajik nationals seeking to leave the Islamic Republic.
In a statement released on the evening of June 17, the embassy urged citizens to exit the country via border checkpoints with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
The Embassy emphasized that coordination with the border authorities of Iran, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan is required — a process that will be facilitated by the diplomatic mission.
“Dear citizens, we ask you to use the ‘Bajgiran’ border checkpoint on the Iran–Turkmenistan border and the ‘Astara’ checkpoint on the Iran–Azerbaijan border,” the statement reads.
“Crossing through these points requires approval from the respective countries, which the embassy is helping to arrange.”

Tajik nationals are asked to send scanned copies of their passports along with their WhatsApp number or local Iranian phone number to the provided email for registration and assistance.
Flights cancelled, evacuations underway
The conflict has disrupted air travel in and out of Iran. Flights between Dushanbe and the Iranian cities of Tehran and Mashhad, operated by Somon Air and Iran’s Varesh Airline, have been suspended due to the closure of Iranian airspace.
Tajik Ambassador to Iran, Nizomiddin Zohidi, told Radio Ozodi earlier that at least 30 citizens had already left Iran, while another 100 had registered for departure. He emphasized that the repatriation effort is entirely voluntary.
Background: six Days of escalation
The violence erupted on June 13, when Israel launched a strike on Iranian territory. In retaliation, Iran fired multiple waves of ballistic missiles at various locations across Israel in the early hours of June 14.
As of June 18, the conflict has claimed hundreds of lives on both sides, with thousands more wounded.
