The Kazakh Film Days have officially started in Dushanbe, offering a selection of three films showcasing the vibrant cinematic talent of Kazakhstan. The event is taking place from October 28 to 30 at the Vatan cinema, with free entry and screenings beginning at 5:00 PM each evening.

 

October 28 – Time of Patriots

Genre: Drama

Director: Serikbol Utebergenov

The opening film, Time of Patriots, follows two brothers, Sultan and Bekzat, who continue their family’s military tradition. Sultan is a decorated intelligence officer, while Bekzat is a skilled fighter pilot. Although their father, a national hero, died in the line of duty, the brothers struggle to connect with each other. Their lives take a turn when an international terrorist group threatens national security. Forced to work together to save lives, they come to understand that family, love, and homeland are the most valuable things they have.

 

October 29 – Wrestler. Khasymukan – World Champion

Wrestler. Khasymukan – World Champion tells the inspiring story of Kazakh wrestler Khasymukan Munaytpasov, who rose from humble beginnings in rural Kazakhstan to become a world champion. The film explores his journey from poverty to glory, highlighting his resilience and determination on his path to success.

 

October 30 – Amre

Genre: Drama, Social

Director: Jeff Vespa

The final film, Amre, delves into the brief yet extraordinary life of Kazakh prodigy Amre Kashaubaev. Kashaubaev is renowned for introducing Kazakh vocal performance and the traditional instrument dombra to European audiences during the 1925 World Music Competition at the Paris Expo. At 36, Kashaubaev’s powerful performance captivated the audience, earning him a silver medal as part of the Soviet Union’s delegation, forever etching his name in the history of world music.
