The average monthly salary of hired workers in Tajikistan reached 2,468 somonis in August 2025, marking an 8.4% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Wage growth was strongest in the real sector of the economy, which saw an average rise of 15%.

The highest increases were recorded in manufacturing, where average salaries reached 2,925 somonis.

In agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, wages grew by 14% to 1,192 somonis, while the construction sector experienced a 13.6% rise, with salaries averaging 3,778 somonis.

The financial sector continues to offer the highest incomes in the country. Wages in finance rose by 18.4%, reaching an average of 7,592 somonis.

The information and communications sector followed, with a 6% increase and average monthly salaries of 6,535 somonis.

In contrast, wage growth in the social sectors remains modest. Salaries in healthcare and social services increased by just 1.3%, while education saw a 4.1% rise.

Regionally, the capital remains the wage leader:

·         Dushanbe – 3,526 somonis

·         Districts Subordinate to the Center (RRP)– 3,104 somonis

·         Sughd Province – 2,213 somonis

·         Khatlon Province – 1,930 somonis

·         Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) – 1,733 somonis

Despite the upward trend in wages, salary arrears remain a pressing issue. By the end of August 2025, outstanding wage payments amounted to nearly 25.7 million somonis. The largest debts were accumulated in the mining industry (over 10.9 million somonis), agriculture (5.6 million somonis), and transport (5.4 million somonis).

Experts highlight that income growth is uneven across sectors. Industries such as manufacturing, construction, and finance are seeing faster wage increases, while public sector salaries lag behind.
