Six athletes from Tajikistan will compete in one of the most prestigious judo tournaments of the year — the Tokyo Grand Slam 2025 — scheduled for December 6–7 in Japan’s capital. The event is a major stop on the World Judo Tour, attracting elite competitors from around the globe.

So far, 324 judokas from 43 countries have confirmed their participation, including the national team of Tajikistan.

Representing the country in the -66 kg weight category are Obid Jebov and Musanif Mirobov. In the -81 kg class, Somon Mahmadbekov and Behrouz Khojazoda will take to the tatami. Mizrobsho Loiqov will compete in the -90 kg division, while Muhsin Malayev will represent Tajikistan in the -100 kg category.

The Tokyo Grand Slam is renowned not only for its competitive lineup but also for its substantial prize pool. This year’s fund totals €154,000, with €5,000 awarded to gold medalists, €3,000 for silver, and €1,500 for bronze.

Beyond medals and prize money, the tournament offers vital ranking points: 1,000 for gold, 700 for silver, and 500 for bronze. These points are crucial for improving international standings and qualifying for major upcoming events, including the Olympics.

For the Tajik team, the Tokyo Grand Slam is a key milestone in their international campaign and an important opportunity to boost their global ranking.
