Uzbekistan lowers fees for registration of foreigners

Uzbekistan has reportedly lowered fees for registration of foreigners. Meanwhile, the registration fee for citizens of the CIS member nations staying in Uzbekistan for one month have increased.

By Uzbek government’s decree foreign  nationals staying in the country up to 30 days will now pay fee at the rate of 3,400 sum (2 percent of Uzbekistan’s minimum monthly wage) per day.  Previously, the fee for registration of foreigners staying in the country up to one month was USD 20.00.  

Meanwhile, the registration fee for citizens of the CIS member nations staying in Uzbekistan for one month has increased.  They previously paid USD 5.00 for staying in the country up to one month.  Now, they will also pay for staying in Uzbekistan up to one month at the of 3,400 sum (2 percent of Uzbekistan’s minimum monthly wage) per day

The immigration regulations of Uzbekistan require that all foreigners present in Uzbekistan be registered with the local authorities immediately upon arrival in Uzbekistan.  Tourists staying at hotels and students living in dormitories are automatically registered.  All other foreigners must register themselves with a local (district or city level) Office of Entry, Exit and Citizenship (OEE&C).  A tourist visa cannot be extended in Uzbekistan and requires the holder to reside at a hotel rather than at a private residence during his/her stay in the country.  Visitors staying in the country for up to 3 days do not need to register.
