Tajik athletes win 43 medals at CIS Open Cup – World Cup Taekwon-Do ITF in Minsk

DUSHANBE, December 11, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik athletes won 43 medals at the CIS Open Cup – World Cup Taekwon-Do ITF that took place in Minsk, Ms. Nargis Nabiyeva, Vice President of the National Federation of Taekwon-Do ITF and Kickboxing of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Tajikistan was reportedly represented at the tournament by more than 56 taekwondo fighters.

“Our athletes won 43 medals, including 10 gold medals,” said Ms. Nabiyeva.  “The following athletes won gold medals in individual sparring: Sadriddin Yaqubov (men’s +85 kg), Alisher Ahmadov (men’s -66 kg), Mahmoud Khalifayev (juniors’ aged 16 to 17, -51 kg), Anisa Davlatova (girls’ aged 9-10, -32 kg), Abdurahim Mardonov (boys’ aged 7-8), Shohanshoh Shanshoyev (boys’ aged 7 to 7 -23 kg), Shorukh Nouraliyev (juniors’ aged 14 to15 -50kg).  Besides Alisher Ahmadov (black belt 3rd- 4th dan) Muhamamdjon Naimov (black belt 1st – 2nd dan) became champions in men’s complex program.”

According to her, one more gold medal was won by Tajik taekwondo fighters in men’s team competition.

Besides, there are ten silver and twenty bronze medals in Tajik team’s receptacle.

The three-day tournament reportedly featured more than 200 medal events at the Minsk Arena velodrome.  The tournament gathered some 1,200 athletes aged 7 to 39 from 13 countries of the world.

International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) is a taekwondo organization founded on March 22, 1966, by Choi Hong Hi in Seoul, South Korea.  The ITF was founded to promote and encourage the growth of the Korean martial art of Taekwon-Do.  The ITF”s main functions include coordinating and approving tournaments and seminars, setting standards for teaching (patterns, sparring, destruction), collaborating with affiliated member organizations, and providing services members in regards to rank and certifications.
