Norway reportedly interested in delivery of farm produce from Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, September 7, 2012, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday September 5, senior representatives from Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) met here with Chief Legal Adviser Leif-Otar Petersen, Directorate of Customs and Excise, Norway and  Chief Legal Adviser Helge Lindrup, Directorate of Customs and Excise, Norway.

According to the CCI press center, Norwegian officials expressed interest in importing farm produce from Tajikistan.

Norway’s generalized system of preferences (GSP) may become available to Tajik producers and potential exporters, Larisa Kislyakova, the deputy chairperson of Tajikistan’s CCI, was quoted as saying.

Leif-Otar Petersen noted that the GSP-system is an offer of duty relief allowing the developing countries to import their goods duty free into Norway, or with reduced duty rates.

The Norway’s GSP-scheme was changed with effect from 1 January 2008.

Norway is interested in delivery of farm produce, especially dried fruits, nuts and flowers (roses) from Tajikistan, Leif-Otar Petersen was quoted as saying.
