Uzbek national air carrier to increase the number of regular flights from Tashkent to Dushanbe

Uzbek national air carrier Oʻzbekiston Havo Yoʻllari (Uzbekistan Airways) is increasing the number of regular flights from Tashkent to Dushanbe – from once-weekly service to twice-weekly service.

Beginning on April 3, Uzbekistan Airways will operate two Tashkent-Dushanbe-Tashkent flights per week – on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

According to information posted on Uzbek Airways website, economy class fares on the Tashkent-Dushanbe flight start from 1.629 million sums (equivalent to US$155.00) and business class fares start from 2,256 million sums (equivalent to US$215.00).

Meanwhile, economy class and business class fares on the Dushanbe-Tashkent flight start reportedly from 1.622 million sum (equivalent to US$154.00) and 3.039 million sums (equivalent to US$290.00), respectively.

Recall, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan agreed to resume regular flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent in January this year.

Tajikistan’s privately owned air carrier Somon Air and the flag carrier airline of Uzbekistan Oʻzbekiston Havo Yoʻllari now operate regular flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent.  Somon Air operates flights on Fridays and Oʻzbekiston Havo Yoʻllari operates flights on Wednesdays.

Currently, each of the air carriers operates one flight a week

Passengers on these flights must have a certificate showing the negative result of COVID-19, obtained by testing by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, and made no earlier than 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival.

Air traffic between Tajikistan and Dushanbe was suspended on March 16, 2020.

Recall, Tajik authorities have suspended all international flights.  Tajikistan closed all its airports at midnight on March 19-20 due to the coronavirus concerns.  Only charters flights to repatriate Tajik nationals stranded in foreign countries due to the coronavirus crisis have been operated so far.

To-date, Tajikistan has resumed regular flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Istanbul (Turkey), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Kabul (Afghanistan).
