About 7,400 economic entities, including 319 legal entities (companies and enterprises) and about 7,100 individual entrepreneurs have been shut down in Tajikistan over the first three months of this year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Despite this, total number of operating economic entities reportedly in the country in a year to March 31, 2022, reaching 344,500i.
Over the first three months of this year, about 10,800 new economic entities have been launched in Tajikistan, which is 2,700 more than in the same period last year
More than 28 percent of companies and enterprises operate in Khatlon province, about 27 percent in Sughd province, 25 percent in Dushanbe, more than 16 percent in districts subordinate to the center, and some 5 percent in Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Tajik companies and enterprises are mainly engaged in agriculture, trade, education, service, anking sector, construction, and processing industry.
As far as individual entrepreneurs concerned, 50 percent of them, 33 percent work on a patent, and about 12 percent work on a certificate.
As of April 1, 2022, there are about 307,000 individual entrepreneurs working in Tajikistan, 607 more than a year ago.
Entrepreneurs and experts say the main obstacles in the way of development of business in the country are high tax rates, frequent inspections by fiscal bodies and corruption.
