DUSHANBE, August 9, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Prosecutor-General’s Office has brought official charges against GBAO former warlords.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office yesterday released a statement, in which it charges leaders of illegal armed formation acting in Khorog and nearby villages with murders, drug trafficking and human abductions.

The statement, in particular, notes that Mamadboqir Mamadboqirov, Imomnazar Imomnazarov, Tolib, Ayombekov and Yodgor Mamadaslamov and their confederates have been involved in murders, drug trafficking and human abductions in the region in recent years.

According to the statistical data from the Ministry of Interior, four young women have been reported missing in Khorog and nearby villages over the past two years and no one of them has been found so far, the statement said.

Besides, members of the criminal group of Yodgor Mamadaslamov reportedly took M.Ch. hostage on November 9, 2011 and demanded a ransom of 35,000 U.S. dollars from his relatives.  M.Ch. was released due to interference of officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in Gorno Badakhshan, the statement said.

In this connection, the Prosecutor-General’s Office instituted criminal proceedings against Yodgor Mamadaslamov other members of this criminal group under the provisions of Article 181 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – hostage taking; an investigation is under way.
