DUSHANBE, August 13, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tolib Ayombekov, a former warlord from the civil war, told the GBAO TV channel on August 12 that he and his supporters are ready to serve Tajikistan and president’s policy.
In his statement, he, in particular, noted that “the events in Khorog are the work of enemies of the Tajik people.” “We must not allow our enemies to split the ranks of our people,” Ayombekov noted.
He said that he wanted to give himself up along with his brother and other supporters for the sake of peace and tranquility in the republic.
Ayombekov said he wanted to prove his innocence in a free and fair trial. “We have always been supporters of legal solution of issues,” said Ayombekov. “We are always ready to serve Tajikistan and policy of the head of state.”
He also called on all armed people to lay down weapons for the sake fo stabilization of the situation in Khorog.
