DUSHANBE, April 1, 2013, Asia-Plus — A number of Russian media outlets reported on March 31 that fifteen Tajik nationals have been arrested in Rostov-on-Don on suspicion of raping a woman from Ukraine.
“An operation on arresting a group of Tajik nationals on suspicion of raping a woman from Ukraine was carried out in an industrial zone of Rostov-on-Don,” an official source at the Rostov law enforcement authorities was quoted as saying by
Interfax
.
According to him, the detained Tajiks and the woman from Ukraine were working together at one of construction sites in Rostov.
Meanwhile, the press center of the Russian Investigative Committee’s office for Rostov oblast reports that the detained Tajiks are not suspected of rape.
“Indeed, a group of Tajik nationals have been detained in Rostov-on-Don but they are not suspected of rape,” the press center of the Russian Investigative Committee’s office for Rostov oblast stated.
