DUSHANBE, July 16, 2014, Asia-Plus – Five Tajik nationals have reportedly been injured in the Moscow subway accident.

“Five our compatriots were injured in yesterday’s Moscow subway derailment,” said Ibrohim Ahmadov, a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population (LMEP)’s office in Russia.  “Among them are Hamza Sodiqov, Munosibsho Muminsho, Naimjon Mavlonov, Zafarbek Sayfulloyev and Daler Qurbonov.  Two of them — Munosibsho Muminsho and Naimjon Mavlonov – are in serious condition.”

Russian news agencies quoted Moscow officials as saying that one citizen of China and one citizen of Tajikistan were among those killed.

“We cannot yet confirm information by some Russia media source that one Tajik national died in hospital but our employees are in permanent contact with hospitals where injured Tajik nationals are placed,” Ahmadov noted.

Meanwhile, Russian media sources report that the death toll in the Moscow subway derailment reached 22 and 129 injured people are currently undergoing medical treatment in 15 hospitals.

We will recall that three carriages derailed on a train travelling between the Slavyansky Boulevard and Park Pobedy stations at 70 km per hour yesterday at around 8:35 am on the world”s busiest subway system.

Injured passengers were reportedly carried on stretchers out of metro stations and helicopters ferried the most seriously hurt to hospital.

Violation of transportation regulations reportedly caused the accident, which is one of the most serious to hit the Moscow subway in recent years.

Russia has declared a day of mourning after the subway derailing disaster.

The Moscow subway is the world”s busiest, with as many as 9 million people on week days riding a system.  Park Pobedy is the deepest subway station in Moscow at 84 meters, complicating rescue efforts.
