DUSHANBE, September 13, 2014, Asia-Plus — A strong earthquake jolted the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) Saturday (September 13) morning, at 6.58 am.
Orif Nozimov, a spokesman for the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan (CES), says the quake was centered 432 kilometers to the southeast of Dushanbe and 42 kilometers of Khorog, the Capital of Gorno Badakhshan.
“The earthquake measuring 4.0-5.0 on a 12-point scale could be felt in Khorog,” Nozimov said, noting that in the epicenter, the magnitude of the quake was 5.0-6.0.
A 1.8-magnitude quake could be felt at Lake Sarez, the spokesman said. No damage or injured was reported, according him.
