DUSHANBE, December 9, 2014, Asia-Plus — Five members of one family have died of from carbon monoxide poisoning in Vahdat.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports the fatal accident took place in the Simiganj Jamoat, which is administrative subordinated to Vahdat Township, on December 8.
The 29-year-old Nasiba Majidova and her four children – six-year-old Farida, five-year-old Saidaslam, four-year-old Fazilat and three-year-old Mohammad – died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
They reportedly got poisoned while using cast-iron moveable wood stove to heat the house.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports that similar fatal accident took place in the northern district of Spitamen, where the 54-year-old Sobir Kholmatov died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Because of lack of electricity during autumn-winter period, such wood and charcoal-burning stoves are popular in rural areas.
