A 21-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Jaihun (formerly Qumsangir) district has been detained on suspicion of committing murder with extreme cruelty, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.

The incident reportedly occurred on the Dehoti Street in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district Monday (February 15) evening at around 8:00 pm.

The suspect being in the passenger compartment of a Hyundai-Solaris inflicted 42 stab wounds on a 31-year-old private taxi driver, who died on the spot.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
