Windsquall and mudflows cause damage to GBAO and Sughd province

Windsquall and mudflows have caused damage to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and the northern Sughd province.  Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, a squally wind that picked up in GBAO’s Rushan district yesterday at 5:33 pm damaged part of the roof of the school and residential building.  No injured was reported according to the source.  

A special commission is reportedly working at the scene to assess the actual damage caused by the windsquall. 

The same day, torrential rain caused a number of mudflows in Isfara and Panjakent districts of the Sughd province. 

In Isfara, mudflows damaged seven persona plots in Langar, Kheleson and Ibod Faizulloyev mahallas.

Mass of slurry reportedly blocked the mudflow flume in Langar village and canal in Khoja Alo village. 

In Panjakent district, mudflows occurred in Khurmi, Puli Girdob, Gezan, Sujina and Kosatarosh villages partially damaging three residential buildings in Sujina village and two residential buildings in Kosatarosh village.  No injured was reported, according to the Emergencies Committee.
