QURGHON TEPPA, September 22, 2012, Asia-Plus — Three officers from the frontier post “Kokul” deployed in Khatlon province have got log jail terms.
The military court of the Khatlon garrison sentenced the commander of the frontier post “Kokul” Senior Lieutenant Jovidon Abdulloyev, Lieutenant Ghayrat Sharipov, and Warrant Officer Saidmurod Taghoymurod to 18, 14, and 13½ years respectively on September 20. The sentence followed their conviction on the charges of drug trafficking and smuggling.
Senior Lieutenant Jovidon Abdulloyev was also charged with sodomy and misuse of office. Ismoilbek Mirmaqsumov, a judge with the military court of the Khatlon garrison, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
“The preliminary investigation has established that on April 12 this year, Senior Lieutenant Jovidon Abdulloyev, being in a state of drunkenness, raped a male soldier,” said the judge, “Besides, security officers found a drug cache organized by Abdulloyev, Sharipov and Taghoymurod; 47 kilograms of raw opium and some 10 kilograms of hashish had been extracted from the hide.”
