QURGHON TEPPA, December 20, Asia-Plus — Qurbonkhol Ganjalov, a senior investigator with the police station in the Qubodiyon district, Khatlon province faces fraud charge.
An official source at anticorruption agency’s office in Khatlon province says criminal proceedings have been instituted against Ganjalov following an application by local resident. “In her application, she noted that Ganjalov demanded 10,000 somoni from her for dropping criminal proceedings instituted against her husband, who is currently working outside the country,” the source noted.
The anticorruption officers reportedly caught the investigator red-handed in his office while he was taking a bribe of 1,000 U.S. dollars from the woman.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Ganjalov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 247 (4) – fraud; and Article 223 – service forgery. An investigation is under way.
