DUSHANBE, June 18, 2013, Asia-Plus – The two-day training on corruption disclosure and investigation techniques of corruption-related crimes ended at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan on June 18.
According to press release issued by the OSCE Office, an international anti-corruption expert trained the participants on investigation and intelligence gathering techniques of corruption-related crimes.
The two-day workshop was organized by the OSCE Office and involved 10 specialists from the Agency for State Financial Control and Fight against Corruption; the Interior Ministry; Customs Service and National Security Committee.
“Combating corruption by building up the professional capacities of Tajikistan’s anti-corruption authorities is an important part of the OSCE’s strategy to help the country increase its economic growth and strengthen its political stability,” said Hans Peter Larsen, Deputy Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.
The workshop was complementary to a previous course that was held in 2012, but focused more on practical aspects, and is tailored for investigation experts. It was organized as a part of the OSCE’s Good Governance Program in Tajikistan, to help the authorities build up their capacities in the field of good governance. This includes the fight against corruption, anti-corruption education, raising awareness on the problem, increasing public participation, and helping local authorities with the effective application of corruption prevention practices.
The Office plans to hold a follow-up training course for the same audience in autumn 2013 focusing on financial investigations and how to trace, freeze, seize and confiscate assets.
