A drug dealer who had been wanted by police since February 2005 has got a lengthy jail term for a large-scale drug trafficking.
A court in the Roudaki district sentenced local resident Jamoliddin Muhiddinov to 19 years in prison on January 24, according to the press center of the Prosecutor-General’s Office.
The sentence followed his conviction on charges of the large-scale drug trafficking. Muhiddinov will serve his term in a high-security penal colony.
Jamoliddin Muhiddinov and his accomplice reportedly bought 136.4 kilograms of heroin from Afghan national for 40,000 U.S. dollars in Khatlon’s Hamadoni district in February 2005.
They hid the drugs in the Nishoni Lenin village in the Roudaki district but the law enforcement officers found them. Jamoliddin Muhiddinov managed to escape arrest.
Muhiddinov had reportedly been on the run for almost 13 years. He was detained only in 2017.
