Tajik president visits India’s Silicon Valley

DUSHANBE, September 4, 2012, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday September 4, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon visited  the Indian city of Bangalore.

According to the president’s official website,  Emomali Rahmon held talks with Karnataka governor Hansraj Bhardwaj.

Issues related to bilateral cooperation in sectors like engineering industry, electrical appliance manufacturing, and textile industry were the focus of the meeting, the source said.

While in Bangalore, Tajik president visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Infosys Technologies Limited.

Based in Bangalore, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is one of Asia”s largest aerospace companies. Under the management of the Indian Ministry of Defence, this state-owned company is mainly involved in aerospace industry, which includes manufacturing and assembling aircraft, navigation and related communication equipment, as well as operating airports.

Infosys Limited, is an Indian multinational provider of business consulting, technology, engineering and outsourcing services company. It is headquartered in Bangalore

Bangalore is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Located on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is India”s third most populous city and fifth-most populous urban agglomeration. Bangalore is well known as a hub for India”s information technology sector. It is among the top 10 preferred entrepreneurial locations in the world.

As a large and growing metropolis, Bangalore is home to many well-recognized colleges and research institutions in India. Numerous public sector heavy industries, software companies, aerospace, telecommunications, and defense organisations are located in the city. Bangalore is known as

the Silicon Valley of India

because of its position as the nation”s leading IT exporter. A demographically diverse city, Bangalore is a major economic and cultural hub and the second fastest growing major metropolis in India.
