On Friday November 22, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali met with U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan John Mark Pommersheim, according to the Dushanbe Administration press center.
The two sides reportedly discussed the current level of cooperation and new directions of bilateral cooperation.
Dushanbe mayor and U.S. diplomat, in particular, discussed issues related to cooperation in different fields, including economics, education, culture and science.
Emomali and Pommersheim also discussed state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between sister cities Dushanbe and Boulder (Colorado).
The Boulder-Dushanbe relationship began during the Cold War and continues to grow. In 1987, the people of Dushanbe even gifted Boulder a hand-made Tajik Teahouse that is now visited by over 100,000 people every year! Boulder has returned the favor! Boulder-Dushanbe Sister Cities has given a Cyber Café and Friendship Center to the people of Dushanbe on behalf of the people of Boulder.
