Senior representatives of Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry have discussed with Tajik ambassadors and consuls how to bring to bring home Tajik citizens stuck overseas due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
On Tuesday April 7, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a meeting with chiefs of Tajik diplomatic and consular missions abroad to discuss the evacuation of Tajik nationals stuck in other countries due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, which has caused many countries to ban international commercial flights in their battle to contain the spread of the disease, according to the Tajik MA information department.
The meeting was held in a video conference format.
Issues related to the current situation that emerged in the world due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and ways to solve problems of Tajik nationals stuck in other countries were disused at the meeting.
They reportedly also discussed measures to prevent the spread of the disease in Tajikistan, the economic and social consequences of COVID-19 for the country, as well as ways to expand cooperation with partner countries and international organizations.
Meanwhile, a source within Dushanbe International Airport says a plane of Tajikistan’s privately owned air carrier Somon Air with citizens of a number of European countries on board today morning flew to Munich, Germany.
It is unknown whether Tajik nationals will be brought home by this plane or not.
