Ten residences for hosting high-ranking guests expected to be built in Dushanbe

Tajik lawmakers have endorsed amendments offered by the government to the country’s law on the national budget for 2020.  The amendments, in particular, provide for providing tax and customs benefits to companies constructing residences for hosting high-ranking guests.

A regular sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the sixth convocation, presided over by its head, Muhammadtoir Zokirzoda, took place on April 29.

Presenting the amendments to the lawmakers, Deputy Finance Minister, Yusuf Majidi, said suppliers of building materials and equipment for construction of ten residences in Dushanbe for hosting high-ranking quests would be exempted from paying the value added tax (VAT) and customs duties.

Besides, suppliers of flowers and trees for Dushanbe will also be exempted from paying VAT and customs duties.

According to the amendments, suppliers of seeds of crops of the first reproductive level and high-quality seeds for silkworm breeding as well as the delivery of Airbus helicopter to Tajikistan for Somon Air will also be exempted from paying VAT and customs duties.

The Amendments also provide for exempting builders of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) from paying, income tax, VAT, and road tax.
