A new building of Tajik central bank will be demolished to make way for a new park in Dushanbe

Dushanbe authorities have decided to demolish a new building of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) to make a way for a new park.

Representatives of Tajik central bank says they have not yet received notice of demolition of the bank building.

Meanwhile, rumors of demolition of the new building of the NBT have been around for a long time.

In 2018, Tajik central bank invited foreign and domestic companies to participate in a contest for the best design of a new 16-story building for the NBT.

Recall, construction of the new 5-story building of Tajik central bank in Dushanbe was completed in 2005, and the NBT moved to the new building on December 21, 2005.  The building occupies a total area of 8,400 square meters.

The NBT acquired this half-finished building in the second half of the 1990s.  Construction of this building intended for the Central Committee of Tajikistan’s Komsomol (Communist Youth League) began in the late 1980s but later it was frozen.
