Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met with a group of the newly appointed police officials, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Addressing them the head of state reportedly urged them to keep in touch with the public in order to gain the authority and respect of people.
Rahmon called on them to work within the framework of applicable laws and service charters and fight all crimes and violations.
Taking into consideration the difficult and unpredictable situation in the region, Emomali Rahmon urged the newly appointed police officials to be more alert to transnational threats, drug trafficking and organized crime.
“In the era of globalization, knowledge of foreign languages and the use of modern technologies are the key to everyone’s success and play an important role in combating terrorism, extremism, trafficking narcotic drugs and weapons and terrorism financing,” the president noted.
Emomali Rahmon introduced a number of staff changes shaking up police officials in accordance with Article 9 of the RT Law “On Police”, the Tajik president’s official website said.
