Tajik parliamentarians have discussed a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of railway transportation.
A regular sitting of the Board (Shuro) of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) took place on January 24.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon Board members discussed the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of railway transportation, says the Majlisi Namoyandagon press center.
It was reportedly noted that ratification of that agreement would improve the level of international transport services, transit of cargo by rail between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and the bilateral trade between the two countries.
The agreement reportedly contributes to the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation, increase in the bilateral trade between the two countries as well as use of transit railways and Turkmenbashi seaport on the Caspian Sea for access to the railways of European countries.
The Boar members supported the ratification of this agreement, the Majlisi Namoyandagon press center added.
Meanwhile, according to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan over the first eleven months of last year valued at 18.1 million U.S. dollars, which was 2.7 times more than in the same period of 2020.
