Welder accused of causing fire at construction materials market in Dushanbe

Dushanbe. November 22. “Asia-Plus” – Misuse of welding equipment caused a fire at Jal-Jam, one of Dushanbe’s biggest markets of construction materials, Tajik Interior Ministry’s Fire Department reported.

According to the source, the fire occurred in one of the storehouses and spread to other parts of the market destroying a total of 135 square meters.

“The fire was localized by 13 fire units and two water carriers,” the source has said, adding that no victims were reported.

The fire occurred as a result of misuse of welding equipment.

It has also been reported, that fire units and inspectors carried out multiple explanatory campaigns and informed senior officials of the market about fire safety rules.

“In the course of the second monitoring 13 businessmen were fined for violation of fire safety rules. They paid more than 2000 Somoni,” the source reported.

The investigation is still under way, the damage is being calculated.
