DUSHANBE, November 26, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimov has left for China for a working visit.
According to the Interior Ministry’s press center, during his stay in Beijing, Rahimov is scheduled to hold talks with senior representatives from Chinese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to consider issues related to establishment of cooperation between Tajik Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Chinese MPS in combating terrorism, separatism and drug trafficking.
The sides will also discuss issues related to exchanging information, training of personnel and strengthening border controls and cooperation.
The visit is expected to result in signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) on border cooperation between Tajik MoI and Chinese MPS, the source said.
Abdurahim Rahimov, chief of the Interior Ministry office, Mahmadsaid Saidov, chief of the Interior Ministry traffic police, and Jamshed Mashrabov, head of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Tajikistan, are accompanying Ramazon Rahimov on his visit to China.
We will recall that Ramazon Rahimov met with Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan Fan Xianrong here on November 13. The two reportedly discussed development of mechanism of cooperation between the Interior Ministry’s office in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and Chinese MPS’s office in the Xinjinag Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China on providing security and maintaining public order in border areas of the two countries.
