DUSHNBE, December 20, 2012, Asia-Plus — Lieutenant-General Saymumin Yatimov, chairman of the State Committee for national Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan, is participating in the 33 rd session of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS Member Nations in Moscow.
According to the SCNS press center, the session kicked off on November 18 and will run till November 21.
The meeting participants are discussing a draft program of cooperation between the CIS member nations in combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism designed for 2014-2016.
Additional joint measures to combat terrorism as well as to reveal and shut down channels for sending militants to the Afghan-Pakistani zone and Northern Caucasus are also among major topics of the meeting.
The Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS Member-States was created in 1997 based on a decision by the Council of CIS Heads of State, for promoting cooperation and coordinating actions between the states’ security agencies and special services in fighting international organized crime and in other areas of activity.
