Tajik power-wielding structures conduct joint military exercise in Khatlon

DUSHANBE, July 1, 2013, Asia-plus — Tajik power-wielding structures are expected to conduct a joint military exercise in the Panj district, Khatlon province on July 2.

“The military exercise will involve servicemen of the Border Guard Department, the Ministry of Defense, the Interior Ministry and officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s offices in Khatlon’s districts along with armored vehicles and combat helicopters,” Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the SCNS Border Guard Department, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The purpose of the exercise is in rehearsing coordination and interaction in missions to repulse sudden enemy attacks, Rahmatulloyev said.

Commander of Tajik border troops, Lieutenant-General Sherali Mirzo, will be in overall command of the war game.
