Representatives of the border troops, local governments and law-enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan met in Jirgatal district, and discussed the 9 August incident, which took place on the border. A Kyrgyz citizen was shot, and two others were detained during the incident. It was reported to Asia-Plus in the Border Troops Directorate of the Tajik National Security Committee.
According to the source, it was agreed during the meeting that Tajikistan will be informing the neighboring party on the investigation of the incident, and will organize a telephone conversation between the detained Kyrgyz citizens and their relatives.
He reminded that on 9 August, a shoot-out occurred between Tajik border guards and three armed Kyrgyz citizens on horseback on Tajikistan’s territory in Tupakul (around Laysuu glacier), which left one Kyrgyz citizen dead.
Two Kyrgyz citizens were detained, and a hunting rifle of 7.62 mm caliber with 8 bullets, a small-bore rifle TOZ-8, binoculars and 2 horses were found on the site.
