Police in Tajikistan detained a young man on suspicion of Salafia religious movement propaganda. This movement, along with eleven others is considered extremist and is banned by the Supreme Court in Tajikistan.
According to the Ministry of Interior official website, on 15 August, during an operation, police detained Humayni Ghaziev, born in 1989, a resident of Dushanbe on suspicion of public call for violent overthrow of the Constitutional system.
According to the Interior Ministry, Humayni is a member of Salafia religious movement since 2009.
The message states: “Within the territory of Khwaja Yaqoub Central Mosque in Dushanbe, he was engaged in propaganda of Salafia ideas among the population and called on the citizens to join the illegal religious movement.”
A criminal case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing.
