QURGHON TEPPA, February 25, 2015, Asia-Plus — Khatlon governor Davlatsho Gulahmadzoda is seriously concerned over participation of some young men from the Bokhtar district in foreign armed conflicts and involvement of them in extremist organizations and movement.
His concern came during an address to a meeting of district administrators in Bokhtar on February 21.
Speaking at the meeting, the governor noted that eight residents of Bokhtar were fighting alongside antigovernment forces in Syria; three of them were killed.
“Seven residents of Bokhtar joined the outlawed religious extremist organization Ansarullah. One of them was arrested and six others are still wanted by police,” said Gulahmadzoda. “Besides, two residents of the district are members of the banned Salafia religious movement. We want to define the exact number of residents of our province participating in foreign armed conflicts.”
