Tajik border guards have reportedly seized more than 38 kilograms of drugs at the Tajik-Afghan border in the southern Khatlon province.
“Tajik border guards on a routine patrol warded off an attempt by Afghan drug traffickers to smuggle a large amount of drugs into Tajikistan. They spotted a group of armed Afghan drug traffickers numbering 7-8 people who were illegally crossing the border river in the area patrolled by the “Hamadoni” border unit in the night of December 15. As a result of shootout, the trespassers were forced to return to Afghan territory,” the press center of the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported.
More than 38 kilograms of drugs were found on the spot. A total included more than 17 kilograms of heroin, 11 kilograms of hashish and 10 kilograms of raw opium.
