This month has seen three engagements between Tajik border guards and armed drug traffickers on the Tajik-Afghan border, Mohammad Ulughkhojayev, a spokesman for the Main Board Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), told Asia-Plus in an interview today morning.
According to him, 223.5 kilograms of narcotics drugs have been seized at the Tajik-Afghan border this month so far. A totaled reportedly included 153 kilograms of hashish, 62.5 kilograms of raw opium and eight kilograms of cannabis.
Besides, Tajik border guards found US M16 rifle in the spot after a skirmish with armed drug traffickers that took place in the area patrolled by the “Panj” unit (Khatlon province) on February 8, Ulughkhojayev said.
