A spokesman for the Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), Lieutenant-Colonel Muhammad Ulughkhojayev, has been arrested on suspicion of disclosing state secret, a source at the Tajik law enforcement authorities told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon.
According to him, Ulughkhojayev was detained by SCNS officers and he has been in custody for already the second week.
The Tajik border service spokesman has reportedly sent the secret information through e-mail or messenger.
“As far as I know, checkup of his correspondence and press releases he sent to media outlets is under way. But I do not know what kind of information he sent and to whom he sent it,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Ulughkhojayev’s mobile phone is not available for already the second week and his page on Facebook has been closed.
Some media reports say SCNS chief Saymumin Yatimov has sent to all ministries and agencies a letter noting that spokespersons now do not have right to share any information with journalists without permission of the ministry or agency heads.
The press center of one of the law enforcement agencies of the county has confirmed that they received such a letter.
