Russian has handed over US$122 million worth of weapons and military hardware to Tajikistan in five years.
Andrei Vorobyov, an acting head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, has remarked this at a meeting of the OSCE Forum on Military Security, RIA Novosti reported on May 28.
Tajikistan is reportedly considered as one of the key countries of the buffer zone between Russia and Afghanistan, which is again becoming the hottest point of the world after thousands of militants have moved there from Syria and Iraq.
The first stage of the program of modernization of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan has been implemented since 2014 and over the past five years, Russian has handed over US$122 million worth of weapons and military hardware to Tajikistan, Vorobyov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
Besides, Tajik servicemen are being trained at higher military schools in Russia. Currently, 586 Tajik servicemen are reportedly being trained at Russian higher military schools.
