All Chinese nationals returning from the Chinese New Year holydays will be held in quarantine, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Zarobiddin Faizullozoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on February 10.
According to him, 2,176 Chinese nationals are working at industrial enterprises in Tajikistan, mostly in the mining sector.
“Of them, 617 stayed in Tajikistan while others went to China for the New Year holidays,” said the minister. “Some of them have returned and they are currently being held in quarantine. All Chinese nationals returning from the Chinese New Year holydays will be quarantined.”
Faizullozoda noted that some 50 companies with participation of Chinese capital now operate in the country. They mostly operate in the mining sector: Zarafshon; Zarnisor, Dushanbe Mining; TALCO Gold; and others.”
Chinese New Year officially begins on January 25, 2020, and ends on February 4.
