A moderate tremor measuring 3.0-4.0 on the Richter scale jolted Dushanbe Thursday afternoon at 3:27 pm, according to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.
The tremor could be felt in the Khatlon province as well.
Citing the Geophysics Service of the National Academy of Sciences, the Emergencies Committee says the quake occurred in Uzbek territory 172 kilometers southwest of Dushanbe and 149 kilometers northwest of Khatlon’s Shahritous district.
Meanwhile, Podrobno.uz, citing the Uzbek Ministry of Emergencies, says the earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck the Boysun district in the Surkhandaryo region in the eastern Uzbekistan at a depth of 15 kilometers, 411 kilometers southwest of Tashkent.
