Six students from the Khujand-based Lyceum for Gifted Children have become medalists of the Copernicus 2022 Olympiad that took place in Huston, Texas USA from January 8-16, 2022.
The press center of the Sughd governor’s office says more than 2,000 school students from 50 countries of the world participated in the Copernicus Olympiad in Huston Students competing in mathematics, physics and astronomy.
Tajik school students reportedly won one silver and five bronze medals as well as the Olympiad team cup for physics.
Recall, Ms. Surayo Nematova, Principal of the Lyceum, told Asia-Plus in an interview on November 16, 2021, “Seventeen students of the Khujand-based Lyceum for Gifted Children will participate in the final round of the Copernicus 2022 Olympiad in Huston.”
According to her, 25 students of the Lyceum participated in the first round of the Copernicus Olympiad that was held on October 31 in online format and 17 of them went into the final round.
Copernicus Olympiad is an international competition platform, in which students from 5th to 12th grade compete in mathematics and astronomy. Copernicus Olympiad aims to increase students’ interest in science.
By participating in the Copernicus Olympiad, young intellectuals develop their academic skills, unlock their potential, and make friends from all around the world.
