230 households in Tajikistan advised to move to safer places to live

230 households in Tajikistan have bene advised to move to safer places to live, representatives of the Main Geology Directorate under the Government of Tajikistan told reporters in Dushanbe on February 17.   

This recommendation was reportedly given in 2021 based on the findings of engineering and geological surveys.  

Geologists reportedly conducted engineering and geological surveys in 886 rural areas, districts and cities across the country and found 51 dangerous places to live.  

Most dangerous places were registered were registered in Kuhistoni Mastchoh district of Sughd province.  Eighteen such places were revealed in Kuhistoni Mastchoh and 94 households were advised to move to safer places.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Ministry of Labor told reporters on February 9 they are continuing to relocate people from low-income areas and dangerous zones to the more developed regions of the country.  

Thus, according to information provided by the Ministry of Labor, 375 families were relocated last year, including 161 families in Khatlon, province, 101 families in districts subordinate to the center, 90 families in Sughd province and 23 families in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

Representatives of the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan also spoke at the news conference about dangerous zones in the country.  

The Emergencies Committee head Rustam Nazarzoda, in particular, noted that there are 1,209 dangerous zones with 515 of them being especially dangerous, where the risk of emergency situations is high.

“23,877 households (a total of 158,270 people) live in the dangerous zones, the Emergencies Committee head added.

Six dangerous places were registered in Dushanbe, 226 in Hisor, 183 in Rasht district, 315 in Khatlon province, 257 in Sughd province and 222 in GBAO.
