Russian public organizations proposes to nationalize 60 foreign companies leaving Russia’s market

The public organization, Public Consumer Initiative (OPI), has made a list of foreign companies for nationalization, Izvestia said on March 10.

60 foreign companies deciding to pull out of Russia are reportedly included into this list.

OPI head Oleg Pavlov told Izvestia that the list had been submitted to the Government and the Prosecutor-General’s Office.

According to him, the list still includes 59 companies but «it will be extended depending on the new applications of foreign business.”

The following companies have already been put on the list: Volkswagen; Apple; IKEA; Microsoft; IBM; Shell; McDonald's; Porsche; Toyota; H&M; and others.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on March 3 that the Kremlin is not considering nationalization of the property of foreign companies in Russia.

"I am not aware of this, and the Kremlin is not considering it," he said when asked a respective question.

"All issues related to sanctions, to minimization of the damage of those sanctions are considered and decisions are taken by the government’s crisis center headed by [Russian Prime Minister Mikhail] Mishustin," he said.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev did not rule out the nationalization of the property of people registered in the US, the EU, and other unfriendly jurisdictions amid new sanctions against Moscow.
