DUSHANBE, October 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Parliament hearings on the progress of administration of the 2008 budget were held in Dushanbe on October 17.

Economic bloc ministries and organizations reported to the parliament on the results of work carried out by them to ensure utilization of the budget.

Speaking before the parliament, Finance Minister Safarali Najmuddinov noted that gross domestic product had risen 7.9 percent in the year to October 1, 2008 and all targets on replenishment of the budget had been fulfilled.

“All ministries and organizations have fulfilled their targets on replenishment of the budget except the Tax Committee and Customs that have failed to collect all taxes and duties from some organizations,” the minister said.

In the meantime, Ms. Gulchehra Bozorova, chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on Economy and Budget, noted that not all the ministries and organizations had completely used funds provided from the budget.  “Over the first nine months of this year, Barqi Tojik power holding has spent only 50 percent of the provided budgetary funds,” Bozorova said.

MP Shodi Shabdolov called on ministries and organizations as well as his colleagues to thoroughly study proposals, coming from the public bodies during the process of formation of the expenditure part of the budget.
