The President of Tajikistan expressed condolences to the families of those who died as a result of natural disasters that occurred in Kulob on the night of May1, the president’s official website reports..

As it had been reported earlier, heavy precipitation on May 1 caused floods and mudflows in several cities and districts of the country, resulting in three people dying in Kulob, and three others being hospitalized.

The head of state instructed the Prime Minister, the Khatlon Governor, and the State Commission for Emergency Situations to urgently go to the scene, provide assistance to those affected, and eliminate the consequences of the disaster as soon as possible.

The president’s official website notes that the relevant agencies have been instructed to take all necessary measures.

After the incident in Kulob, an emergency meeting of the regional headquarters for disaster relief was held under the leadership of the Khatlon Governor, Davlatali Said.

Relevant structures have been tasked with conducting rescue operations, restoring infrastructure, and providing assistance to the victims as soon as possible.

In recent days, heavy rainfall and landslides have been observed in several cities and districts of the country.

Earlier, meteorologists warned that heavy rains and possible flooding are expected in Tajikistan until May 4.
